A Girl Who Loves to Travel

          In March of 2016, I joined a Facebook group called Girls Love Travel. That small decision, that single click of a “join group” button changed my life. I know that statement sounds grandiose and super corny, but it’s true. Girls Love Travel has empowered me to face my biggest fears, get out of my comfort zone, and really live life in a completely different way.

Since joining Girls Love Travel a short year and a half ago, I have traveled to 16 different countries (check out my Where I’ve Been page), both with friends and by myself. When I mentioned to people that I like to travel solo, I got many mixed reactions, many of which weren’t very supportive. Friends and family alike would tell me that I should bring along a friend, that it wasn’t safe, that I need to bring along a man, or that “I wouldn’t last longer than a month”. I quickly learned the predictable first question when saying I was traveling to some far-away country, “Who are you going with?”. While I understand the misguided concern for my safety, I look forward to a time where a solo female traveller isn’t seen as weird or unusual. Girls Love Travel brings together a group of women who show what travel looks like in many different forms and allowed me to have the courage to do things I wouldn’t have thought of doing. Things like sand boarding the sand dunes of the Sahara, hiking a volcano, and living in Germany for three months! I highly encourage anyone to join this group.

        In the next couple of months I will be sharing my seven month journey that started after my graduation and led up to starting my full time job in Seattle. Itinerary, tips, and recommendations will be included for each destination.

Thailand-> Japan -> Philippines -> Home -> Colorado -> Berlin -> London -> Scotland -> Paris -> Dresden -> Rome -> Dubrovnik -> Split -> Lisbon -> Marrakech -> Prague -> Munich -> Istanbul -> Guatemala -> Costa Rica -> USA West Coast Roadtrip -> Seattle -> San Francisco

But I won’t stop there here are some of my upcoming trips:

  • St. Louis, Missouri –  August
  • Tampa, Florida – September  -> Orlando, Florida : Catching Flights, Not Feelings
  • Banff National Park, Canada – September
  • Vietnam – November
  • Belize + Guatemala – December
  • India – Feb/March
  • Peru – May/June 2018
  • Argentina – December 2018
  • Antarctica – December 2018

                                                                                                                                                                                                 ❤ ash

    Aw thanks Katrina 🙂 I’ll be doing holi in New Delhi and taking trips to Mumbai and Goa. As for Peru I want to hike Machu Picchu via the Salcantay trail and do sky adventure. You basically rock climb up to the these pods. I’m pretty excited! Any upcoming travel plans for you :)?

      I’ve always wanted to go to India! Peru sounds interesting though. I know there are certain times of the year that’s best to hike Machu Picchu. What time would you say would be the best?

        From what I remember reading is may-July for dry season 🙂 I did an overnight backpacking trip to a volcano in Guatemala in the rain this past year and the rain made it soooo hard!

    I bet it would! I’m guessing you’re going in the dry season for peru. Your adventures sound amazing! Safe travels!
